TailPath steps up and helps companies affected by COVID-19
The TailPath platform is now free for six months for all the companies that had their revenue affected by COVID-19 and may not afford to pay for a subscription.
TailPath provides secure tracking of goods and provenance to physical products while using blockchain technologies to secure the data. Its mission is to improve the supply chains and have a positive impact on the quality of life for people all over the world.
"These are tough times for all of us, times of uncertainty and change. I truly believe that it is our duty to help each other on both personal and business levels. This is why we decided to help the companies that may benefit from our product but could not afford it, making it free and enabling their customers to verify the provenance of goods. The levels of counterfeiting across supply chains are increasing, so our initiative adds trust and traceability at a moment we need it most."
--Sebastian Cochinescu, Founder and CEO of TailPath.com
According to OECD, the results of their study on trends in trade in counterfeit and pirated goods are alarming. Counterfeit and pirated goods amounted to as much as 3.3% of world trade, and up to 6.8% of EU imports from third countries in 2016.
Organized criminal groups are seen as playing an increasingly important role in these activities, using profits from counterfeiting and piracy operations to fund other illegal activities. Counterfeiters operate swiftly in the globalized economy, misusing free trade zones, taking advantage of many legitimate trade facilitation mechanisms and thriving in economies with weak governance standards.
Deloitte underlines that while notions of transparency, fair trade, and sustainability are gaining importance in customers’ purchasing decisions, most businesses must deal with complex and non-integrated supply chain networks. This prevents comprehensive and efficient end-to-end traceability and surveillance along the chain.
This is why traceability and provenance of goods is more important nowadays than ever, especially when it comes to food, beverages or other vital items such as medical products and personal protective equipment (PPE).
